Galen Williams is a Mergers & Acquisitions Advisor and Cannabis Executive. He is also the interim CEO for MD Exclusive, a California-based CBD company backed by medical professionals. He holds an extensive background and experience in business as well as cannabis. In this episode, we discuss the bigger and broader topics such as diversity, racial stigma, and unnecessary incarcerations due to the war on drugs. These topics, unfortunately, are not addressed enough in our industry. While Galen does not speak on the Black Lives Matter movement directly, his experience and views are incredibly timely as much needed awareness and reform within not only cannabis but also society as a whole are finally being brought to the forefront. Harold Jarboe, also known as The Old Hemp Farmer, is a fellow podcaster and the Vice President and Marketing Director of Tennessee Homegrown. Mr. Jarboe was raised in rural Southern Indiana where his father’s family had a farm. This is where Mr. Jarboe learned more about agriculture and encountered his first Cannabis plants which were hemp plants growing in the wild. That encounter with hemp led him on a journey studying Cannabis that still continues today. In 2000, Jarboe started researching different agricultural techniques of commercially farming Cannabis in anticipation of eventual legalization. In June of 2014, the cultivation of Hemp was legalized in the state of Tennessee. At this time, Harold decided to switch from growing high THC Cannabis to growing high CBD Cannabis and Hemp. Laura Wilkie is a master cannabinologer and the President of Releaf Organix in Houston, Texas. Laura has researched and studied the many aspects of cannabinoids. Among those, she has learned about common cannabinoids and their uses, methods of taking CBD and dosages, as well as understanding product ingredients and labeling. Chris Patillo and Adam Byrd are the owners of Wichita Falls Texas Hemp Company LLC and see hemp farming trending towards big agriculture. Adam has had a condensed cannabis education over the last 2 years, and Chris has been in the industry for over 5 years now. The two of them have both been advocating for hemp for years. After the passing of the 2018 farm bill, they knew it was time to spring into action and bring the cannabis industry as a new industry to their home town.
